I had travelled to many
corners of Greece for work, but I had never visited Kalamata. That changed when
Nikos invited me to a masterclass and gave me the opportunity to meet the
city’s photography group. From the very first moment, I felt I was among people
with a genuine passion for art – and especially for photography.
From this meeting and
our conversations, an idea was born that would soon take shape: the creation of
the first Photographic Meeting of Kalamata – an event that will bring creators
together, present exhibitions, host talks and masterclasses, and, why not, open
a dialogue between artists from Greece and abroad.
Art has the power to
bring us together, to inspire us, and to lead us down new paths of creation.
This first photographic meeting is a beautiful and ambitious project – a dream
that begins now.
I was invited to take on
the role of Artistic Director for this inaugural event. I accepted, feeling
both pride and a deep sense of responsibility. I hope this endeavor will grow
into an institution – a meeting point where photographers can exchange ideas,
share techniques, draw inspiration, and build bridges between different
cultures and perspectives.
